On behalf of the members of Tau Omega Chapter, Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. I welcome you to our website.
Tau Omega Chapter joins with sorority members across
the world to celebrate Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s 100 years of
“service to all mankind”. We are proud to be a part of the legacy
established by our founders; a legacy that has had an impact not only
throughout the country, but the world.
Chartered in 1925, Tau Omega has the
distinction of being the oldest graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority, Inc. in the New York Metropolitan area. As such we fulfill
our mandate of supreme service by providing the resources of time,
talent and funds to implement quality programming to the community of
Harlem. Through the years our programming has focused on education,
health, economic development, the family, the arts and world
community. Currently, we have
Exceptional Service Programs that include: forums and workshops on economic
issues as well as health and wellness topics that affect our
community; providing mentors for young people; voter education
programs, scholarships, tutoring services, distributing books to
parents of newborn babies and sisterly relations activities.
The Tau Omega Charitable Trust Fund is our 501(c)
(3) non-profit entity that is the vehicle for
our fundraising activities and charitable donations.
We invite active and inactive members of Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority, Inc. to join us at our meetings
and service projects.
Yours truly,
